Our Story

Miru was born on the hiking trails of Watkins Glen State Park, in Upstate New York. On the dirt path, between the trees, I shielded my eyes to look over the massive gorge that wound throughout the park. And there went my sunglasses over the edge. Well then. It wasn’t the best way to start off a hike, but at least the view was worth it - when I had my hand over my eyes.

Back home, I began my search for a new pair of sunglasses. I was looking for something warm and comfortable, yet sleek and modern. But the more I browsed the internet, the more I found that there was a lack of quality sunglasses that appealed to my style, fit within my budget, and also embodied my belief of appreciating and protecting the environment. I wanted glasses I could wear out on a stroll through the Big Apple, as well as beneath the leafy canopies of hiking trails. I wanted more to sunglasses than just plastic frames sitting on my face. And thus, Miru was born.

 

Miru’s Core Philosophies

At Miru, we always have our three core philosophies at heart. Our first and foremost pillar is quality. Each pair of Miru sunglasses is handcrafted and inspected to ensure that we ship only the best. Believe us, we get it- poor quality products suck. There’s not much worse than a buying something brand new, only for it to break within a week and then getting stuck on hold with customer service for 40+ minutes.
